Adds: Voting to Create the 1/27-2/2/19 Fan Voted Chart

Below is a list of the songs that I am adding to the voting for the 1/27-2/2/19 Fan Voted Chart, which opens at 4pm Eastern US time on Tuesday, January 22nd and closes at 4pm on Thursday, January 24th (for my Australian voters, it opens on Wednesday the 23rd and closes on Friday the 25th at 8am in Canberra).  To vote for these songs, either watch for me to post the link on my blog (The Fan Voted Chart), tweet the link (@FanVotedChart) or post the link on Facebook (The Fan Voted Chart Facebook Page). The link will also be included on other posts at the Fan Voted Chart blog while the voting is open; I post the link at the open of the voting and when there is 24 hours left; all these posts are connected to Twitter and Facebook.

You must have a Google account to vote and voting is limited to one vote per account.

Songs Retired: 1/20-1/26/19 Voting

The main purpose of this post is to announce what songs met the requirements for retirement from the voting after this week’s voting.  To be retired from the voting means that the song will not be in any future voting and will be removed from the chart soon.  There are four ways a song can be retired—it fell short of the percentage of votes it needed during voting for the 1/20-1/26/19 Fan Voted Chart, it finished last place on Level 10, it was the #1 song and finished lower than 3rd on the Level 10 Poll or the song reached its time limit in the voting.  Retired songs will still be on the next chart we vote for (the 1/27-2/2/19 Chart), losing at least 10% of their previous points total to give to the other songs (a minimum of 5 Points lost; not to fall below 0 Points).  Each song will then be removed before the next chart is created (the 2/3-2/9/19 Chart).

Songs Who Missed Their Percentage:
The following songs did not get the percent of the votes needed; the “% Difference” column shows how short the songs were of their needed percentage:

Artist Song % Difference
The Smoking Flowers “Woodland Avenue” -0.27
Amy Helm “Gloryland” -0.38
Devin Dawson “Dark Horse” -0.55
Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles “House on a Hill” -0.58
Lee Sims “Just a Few More Miles to Go” -0.68
Nick Brennan “Not Going There Again” -0.68
Jeremy Parsons “Makin’ Things up as I Go” -0.68
The Slocan Ramblers “Makin’ Home” -0.87
Codie Prevost “Today’s Not My Day” -1.23
Volume Five “Just Beyond the Window” -1.55
Kathy Kallick Band “The Sunday Road” -2.74
Lizanne Knott “Devil Dance” -3.67
Dave Adkins “Tired of Lonesome” -5.59

Level 10 Rules:
Each week, the song that finishes last on the Level 10 Poll will be retired.  In addition, if the current #1 song finishes lower than 3rd on the Level 10 Poll, then the song is retired.

Last on Level 10 Poll: “Here I Am” by Dolly Parton & Sia

Status of Current #1:  “Love Wins” by Carrie Underwood, the #1 song prior to this voting, finished 5th in the voting and therefore will be retired.

Automatically Retired Songs:
The songs listed here are being retired from the voting either because the artist has requested the song to be retired or the song has now spent 30 weeks on the chart, which is the most a song is permitted to be in the voting.

No songs are being automatically retired this week.

Results: 1/20-1/26/19 Voting

DISCLAIMER: These are only the results.  I only share these with everyone so they can see how the voting went and how many points each song is earning.  The chart will be revealed Sunday.

PLEASE READ TO UNDERSTAND: The results each week determine how many points songs get added to their cumulative total.  First, songs get points based on where they finish in the voting on their poll (“Normal”).  Then, songs get bonus points based on the percent of votes they get and the number of bonus points available to their level (“Bonus”).  This week,123 points were distributed to the Level 10 songs, 114 to the Level 9 songs, 106 to Level 8, 98 to Level 7, 82 to Level 6, 82 to Level 5, 65 to Level 4, 57 to Level 3, 49 to Level 2 and 41 to Level 1.  The sum of both of these points is added to how many points the songs have earned in their previous weeks in the voting.  The chart is then sorted by total number of earned points with the songs with more points at the top of the chart.

For more information on how the results work, please visit the How the Chart Works page on the Chart Website.

We vote for 1 song on the polls for Level 10 down to Level 1.  We vote for at least 1 song on the 6 different polls for the Entry Level.

Thanks for voting!  Please come back again next week!

Voting Closed: 1/20-1/26/19 Fan Voted Chart

Results from the voting will be posted Friday, January 18th at 4pm Eastern US (8am in Canberra on Saturday, January 19th for my Australian voters). These results will just tell you how many votes a song got, how many points the song will earn, and a few other pieces of information (like if it’s moving up a level). The chart will be revealed on Sunday morning in the US (late Sunday evening in Australia).
