Voting Preview Post, Part 1: Who’s Been Retired (2/23-2/29/20 Edition Chart)

Disclaimer: This is not the voting, just information for you to read about the upcoming voting if you choose.

The main purpose of this post is to announce what songs met the requirements for retirement because of the previous voting.  To be retired from the voting means that the song has been removed from the voting and will no longer appear on the chart.

There are three categories for the ways a song can be retired:

  1. By percentage of the vote (does not apply to Level 10; promoted songs and the Top 5 on each poll cannot be retired this way).
  2. Met certain conditions while on the Level 10 Poll
  3. Just spent its 30th week on the chart (the current time limit; applies to songs on all levels)

Retirement Category #1: Songs Who Missed Their Percentage:

Retirement Category #2: Level 10
Each week, there are certain conditions songs have to avoid while on the Level 10 Poll in order to remain in the voting.  Here are the conditions:

  1. Last Place (unless the song is the “safe” song)
  2. The reigning #1 song finishes lower than 3rd on the Level 10 Poll
  3. Any song in the voting for 21 or more weeks has to finish 4th or higher.

Last: This week’s last place song, “Goin’ to Texas” by Chris Moreau, was exempt from retirement this week as it was its first week on Level 10; there will be no song retired this week from this method.

Current #1: The reigning #1 song was “Five Foot Feisty” by Kevin Forrest Clark; after a few weeks of easy wins, this week was a one-vote win.  It doesn’t matter how “pretty” the win in, it still stayed in the Top 3 and therefore comes back again next week.

21+ Weeks: No songs have been on the chart long enough to be considered to be retired this way.

NOTE: Any song in their first week on Level 10 is safe from retirement UNLESS it is its 30th week in the voting.

Retirement Category #3: Timed Out
The songs listed here are being retired from the voting either because the artist has requested the song to be retired or the song has now spent 30 weeks on the chart, which is the most a song is permitted to be in the voting.

No songs this week
